Nature’s Valley, special in many ways, is unique as the only town in South Africa with its own Carbon Footprint Calculator. Simply by living, all of us stamp a footprint on the environment, but we can choose how large or small that footprint is. Households at Nature's Valley are being challenged to measure their carbon footprint and to set personal goals to reduce their carbon footprint. Measure yours and make changes - one step at a time. Lead the way to cool living?

The Carbon Footprint Calculator (CFC) for Nature's Valley was launched at meetings of the Ratepayers Association, the Trust & Conservancy during the 2008.festive season. It is the start of a process of determining the average household CO2 footprint for Nature's Valley comparing this with the national average and determining a target for Nature's Valley households. Through this project Nature’s Valley is working towards becoming one of the first communities in South Africa to measure and to reduce its carbon and ecological footprint.

To be effective and credible, as many households in Nature's Valley as possible need to fill in the CFC and email it to kimchris@telkomsa.net. Click on the following link to download a copy of the CFC:

Your involvement is critical to the success of the project - please take the time to complete the CFC. The information you fill in on the CFC will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes. No one and no household will be identified in the process. As a first of its kind the Nature's Valley CFC, and in fact the entire Nature's Valley Footprint Project, is a learning-by-doing process and constructive comment and suggestions are welcome.
